Chart of the week: The growing pay gap

Here’s why people are so cross about the executive pay gap, says Rachel Savage in Management Today. The median FTSE 100 CEO now earns 120 times more than a typical full-time British worker.

In 2000, it was 47 times more. Staff earnings have only risen by 48% since then, while CEOs’ pay has jumped by 278% – almost a fourfold rise. Media, marketing and telecoms top executives rake in the most, with total median earnings of almost £7m.
