Chart of the week: Pakistan’s surprisingly resilient stocks

Despite frequent political upheaval, stocks in Pakistan have performed strongly over the past couple of years.

A diverse, liquid market, profitable firms and cheap valuations (it trades on a price-to-earnings ratio of 8.5) have helped attract local and foreign investors.

Even two months of anti-government protests in August and September failed to shake foreigners, who remained net buyers of stocks in both months.
